3 Days/2 Nights – Departure From Marrakech To Desert
Start your journey at 8:00 from Marrakech by 4x4, we are headed south crossing the High Atlas at
Tizi-n-Tichka pass (2260 meters). Shortly before we reach Ouarzazate, we will stop to visit the Kasbah
Ait-Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1987.
After lunch in Ouarzazate, a 4 hour drive will take you through Agdz and Zagora along the picturesque
Draa Valley. Visit the town of Tamgroute along the way, home to the ancient Koran library, which
contains books dating back to the 11 th century. Tamgroute is also known for its green pottery and
ceramics.
We will reach M'Hamid in the evening. Get comfortable at camp and enjoy a dinner cooked over the
fire.
After breakfast continue deeper into the desert on camel's back for about one hour, before meeting
your 4x4 driver who will drive you closer to Erg Chigaga, the biggest sand dunes in Morocco. Enjoy
lunch at an oasis, in the shade of palm and tamarisk trees. In the afternoon we will continue along
sandy roads, and reach Erg Chigaga in time to watch the sun set over the dunes - dinner and musical
entertainment by the fire. The night will be spent in traditional Nomad tents or you can sleep under
the stars if you prefer.
After breakfast we will depart Erg Chigaga by 4x4, driving along the dry riverbed of the Draa, passing
by Lake Iriqui, Foum Zguid and Taznakht on our way back to Marrakech.
