5 Days Tours From Marrakech To Erg Lihoudi & Chegaga

Day 1: Marrakech – Ouarzazate – Fint Oasis - Agdz

Start your journey at 8:00 from Marrakech by 4x4, we are headed south towards the Draa Valley crossing the High Atlas at Tizi-n-Tichka pass (2260 meters). Passing through Ouarzazate in the late morning, we continue to the Fint Oasis where we enjoy a walk through the old caravan rest stop. After lunch we travel across the Anti Atlas over Tizi-n-Tinfifite pass (1660 meters) down into the picturesque Draa Valley. Arrive in Agdz in the late afternoon, dinner and overnight at a hotel in Agdz.

Day 2: Agdz – Zagora – M’Hamid – Erg Lihoudi

After breakfast we visit the Kasbah Tamnougalte, one of the oldest Kasbahs in the Draa Valley. We leave Agdz, continuing through the Draa Valley with its 1001 Kasbahs, and a grove of palm trees stretching over 200 km to the south. We will journey along the old caravan route, taking the backroads through the palm tree grove all the way to Zagora. Lunch in Zagora and a short drive from there we will reach the end of the road in M’Hamid. Here we switch from 4x4 jeep to camels for the next 2 hours, until we arrive at our camp nestled between the dunes of Erg Lihoudi. Set out for an unforgettable sunset walk through the dunes, dinner at camp and overnight in traditional Nomad tents.

Day 3: Erg Lihoudi – Erg Chigaga

Breakfast at camp and then we’ll travel back to M’Hamid by camel. After lunch in town our 4x4 driver will meet us and we will continue deeper into the Sahara. 65km of incredible desert landscapes and oases lay ahead of us until we reach Erg Chigaga, the biggest of all dunes in Morocco. Climb the highest dune Erg Laabidlia (300 meters) to get the best view of the sun setting behind the dunes. Enjoy dinner and musical entertainment by the fire. The night will be spent in traditional Nomad tents.

Day 4: Erg Chigaga – Foum Zguid – Taznakht - Ouarzazate

After breakfast we continue our journey through the Sahara by 4x4 jeep, sit back and take in the 90km of desert, mountains, fossils and Lake Iriqui between here and Foum Zguid. Lunch will be had in Foum Zguide, a town along the Paris-Dakar race route. The drive this afternoon will take us through Taznakht, a town famous for its carpet industry. Arrive in Ouarzazate in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at a hotel in Ouarzazate.

Day 5: Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou - Marrakech

In the morning we can visit the film studios just outside of Ouarzazate before heading towards Ait Ben Haddou. Wander through the Kasbah Ait-Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1987. We then continue our journey through the beautiful Valley of Ounila to the Kasbah of Telouet. After lunch our trip will take us back north across the High Atlas and end in Marrakech in the late afternoon.
